Motorcycle Exhaust Pipe Repair : Step by Step with a Pressure Washer Tool Kit

A motorcycle's exhaust pipe is a key component for both engine performance and the vehicle's aesthetics. Dents can impair its function, especially if they affect the flow of exhaust gases. Enduro riders know all too well that dents in the exhaust pipe are very common. Repairing these dents can be a simple process if you follow the correct steps. Here's how to do it.
Tools needed:
• Hand pump.
• Aluminum and rubber plugs.
• Nylon hammer
• Protective gloves and safety glasses.
Step-by-step repair instructions:
•Prepare the exhaust pipe:
Remove the exhaust pipe from the motorcycle and make sure it is clean and dry. This will allow the process to be more effective.
-
First, place and tighten the clamp on the tube.
- Once the clamp is in place, tighten the wing nuts. The tips of the set screws should not protrude so that the radius fits the tube. Then tighten the set screws, which will press slightly into the exhaust (only on the side opposite the cylinder opening) to prevent the plugs from being ejected.

• Place the lid and tighten it to seal tightly, first assemble the cylinder lid with the 1/2 thread and connect the pressure machine, use a little Teflon tape on the thread.
Then fill the water drain from the opposite side.
This step is probably the MOST IMPORTANT of the entire process. The exhaust pipe must be completely full of water and free of any air for the water pressure to work correctly. Fill the exhaust pipe completely, then open the machine's drain valve until all the air is expelled. You can also rotate the exhaust pipe to ensure there are no air pockets.
3. Place the lid:
• Put the small lid on as a last step, putting it on while you slightly operate the machine's lever to ensure there is no air in the machine.
4. Inject water into the tube:
• Gently operate the machine's lever. You'll see the exhaust begin to move and the dents emerge. If the mouthpiece is twisted, it will be straightened. Be careful with the pressure, operating the lever gently. Above 30 bar, you need to be cautious. Do not exceed 30-35 bar, or you could crack the exhaust.
5. You can help the dent pop out by gently tapping around the dent with a nylon hammer while applying pressure.
6. Supervise the repair:
• Watch as the dent begins to disappear. Do not apply any more pressure.
7. Complete the process:
• Once the dent is removed, release the pressure in the tube by opening the drain valve on the machine shown above.
• Remove the plugs and check that the tube is in good condition.
8. Reinstall the exhaust pipe:
• Reattach the exhaust pipe to the motorcycle and perform a test to ensure it is working properly.
• Precautions
• Never exceed the recommended pressure. Exceeding the pressure can
cause the exhaust to become permanently deformed or even explode.
• Use gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself from
particles or loose pieces.
• These caps are universal for all brands such as: Beta, KTM, Yamaha, Honda, Husqvarna, Gas Gas, Sherco, Suzuki… They are suitable for both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines of all displacements.
